|Lost Cat and Mean People:
A few days ago I watched an elderly woman wonder the Space Coast RV Park we re staying at as we travel through the area. She was looking under every RV and calling out a name.
Appearing visibly upset, I approached her and asked if I can help.
She told me how she had just moved to the area and her cat got out. After describing the cat to me, she asked if she can place the cat carrier, with an article of clothing inside it, under the RV. She had placed fliers around in the immediate area, called veterinarian clinics, and local animal shelters for help.
How could I say No ? I was more than glad to help.
Two days ago I scoured the Lost Pet ads online in this area and lo and behold, I found a cat listed on BrevardLostPets.com that not only fit the de ion, but it was found in a development directly across the road from the RV Park on Byrd Ct.
I called the number listed and spoke to a gentleman who answered the phone. I explained that I think I knew the owner of the lost cat he posted online.
That s when this ignorant man proceeded to berate me over the phone for the condition the cat was found to be in whenever he found it.
Long story made longer, they refused to give the cat back to the kind and upset elderly woman because they re-homed it, even after I asked them to have some compassion and to do the right thing. The cat had one main identifiable mark on it, the same mark that he mentioned to me over the phone.
I am so mad and upset at these people and my heart breaks for my new elderly lady friend, Marti, but in the same breath, there s several lessons to be learned here:
GET YOUR PETS MICROCHIPPED AT A MINIMUM, GIVE A FOUND PET BACK AFTER IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY IDENTIFIED, AND SOME PEOPLE ARE FLAT OUT MEAN!
This cat was a comfort pet in that the woman takes seizures and the cat stays by her side when she comes to.
I m so disappointed that she can t get anyone else to help her get her cat back. |
